Executive Dating – Adopt an Entrepreneurial Attitude For Better Dates
by EliteSingles Editorial
In today’s world our professional lives are more time-consuming than most. With time and energy channelled into business, building a relationship is often a second priority. EliteSingles thinks it doesn’t need to be that way; we make it easier for you to effectively date eligible singles in the UK by combining an intelligent matchmaking system with an easy-to-use platform that only introduces you to truly compatible people.
Executive Dating – Use Your Business Skills For a Better Relationship
If you are the entrepreneurial type then you could find yourself at an advantage in the dating game. We spoke to Huffington Post columnist and entrepreneur Neely Steinberg to identify the key entrepreneurial characteristics business-owners should also apply to their personal lives to achieve dating success.
Ms Steinberg identified passive attitudes as the main reason for dating failure. “Those attitudes won’t get them far if they are truly looking to create healthy, happy love”, she says. Passivity may stem from feeling pressured, ‘too busy to date’ or simply expecting the right person to come to you. Instead, taking ownership of the relationship and applying an entrepreneurial attitude means it’s easier to “feel inspired, more excited, and more motivated”.
Finding a relationship should be a conscious decision – being proactive means, for Steinberg, that people “see their dating experiences as purposeful instead of just feeling like they are going through the motions”. It is the curiosity, drive and spirit typical of successful entrepreneurs, she stresses, which must be part of a relationship to make it last long-term.
So why wait? No matter what career you’re in, executive dating is a way of life more than a specific job. It sums up an ambition, a tenacity and passion that strives you to be better in your professional and personal life. So, you can be a single engineer, a farmer, or even an academic. If you’re ready to deploy your entrepreneurial skills and try executive dating then sign up today and connect with someone special.
Be goal-oriented & delegate
Dating success comes from “us[ing] the same principles you’ve used to start and build your business in your love life”. This means setting clear goals (“what exactly do I want from a relationship?”), setting a strategy, allocating time in advance (and sticking to plans), using mistakes to improve, and taking incremental steps during the relationship’s development.
Apply lessons from business – if you really want a change and a new relationship, take small, manageable steps to make time. For busy professionals, it also pays to appeal to an efficient business edge in the early stages of dating. Outsourcing this task to others – most obviously online dating agencies – is a convenient way to meet appropriate people. For business-ownership and romance to exist together, compatibility of character and lifestyle are hugely important. Like hiring a new employee or finding a new partner, a new relationship should be with somebody sharing similar goals and be highly attuned to the entrepreneurial lifestyle.
Know your non-negotiables
An unforgettable business rule, identifying deal-breakers early is crucial for a relationship to last. Non-negotiables are often obvious and critical for small business success but are overlooked when people meet and begin dating. If the aim is a lasting romance, it’s best to harness entrepreneurial ruthlessness and only date someone who genuinely meets your criteria.
This rule is particularly appropriate when taking the executive dating approach, where non-negotiables can be stated early to filter matches and avoid time-wasting. In many respects, finding a partner is much like finding an investor, employee or partner in business. Think of dates similarly to meetings (though vary the conversation!) – it’s often quickly evident if there’s chemistry or they fit the bill, so keep an exit strategy in mind when dating to minimise wasted time. Learn from the process to continue to refine what exactly you want.
Be tenacious
Much like leading a small business to success, “it sounds tragically unromantic, [but] you have to work at dating”. An entrepreneurial approach “helps you get through the tougher, more disappointing times…it’s important to feel a sense of excitement and have positive energy around the process”. Overcoming challenges is a key lesson to be taken from business.
It is also why Steinberg suggests applying entrepreneurial resolve, rationality and perseverance to our dating lives. The experience in dealing with obstacles and efficiently and constructively is, in fact, a hugely attractive personality trait; and using this attitude in a relationship is a key route to long-term success.
